City Building Events to Check Out

Halifax is lucky to have dedicated residents who care about their city. With so many talented professionals and passionate activists, it’s not surprising there are great city building events coming up. The term ‘world-class’ gets used too often, but all of the speakers at these events are absolutely world class. Come out and learn about building beautiful, successful cities from some of today’s leading city builders.

The Art of City Building – October 28th and 29th

Most of the action takes place at the central library. Speakers from across North America and Europe will focus on design, city-governance, transportation and creating places for people. Some of the giants in the planning and design field will be here. Come hear from Project for Public Spaces, Gehl Architects, The City at Eye Level and more!

Details and registration are online.

Curbside Chat with Chuck Marohn – November 7th

Chuck Marohn is the founder of Strong Towns, an organization devoted to creating economically and socially strong places. Chuck’s ideas help strengthen our cities and ensure their economic success, by exploring traditional ways of building communities. He shows how active citizens, local officials and designers can help places to become strong and resilient — no matter what challenges lie ahead. Planetizen named Chuck one of the ten most influential urban thinkers – of all time!

Details: Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 6:30 PM – 9 PM.  Marianne McCain Building, 6135 University Avenue, Dalhousie University.

Come enjoy some great chats about how to build great places. Thanks again to TJ Maguire for another wonderful picture.
