Night 5 of the 2023 edition of the Halifax Jazz Festival marked my final night of the Fest, as I had a special lady’s birthday to celebrate the following day. As I have been listening to Maestro Fresh Wes since he Dropped the Needle (and I was in Jr. High), he was most certainly an act I was not going to miss capturing, and as you can tell from the photos below, he did not disappoint. It was well worth making the trek downtown to catch the Canadian hip-hop legend, and to hear “Conducting Thangs”, “Let Your Backbone Slide”, and “Drop the Needle” in person was an absolute joy. As Maestro made his way off stage, I headed for home to hang up my Jazz Fest lanyard for another year.
