Back in early February, the 2037 Gottingen Complex (home to the Marquee Ballroom and The Seahorse) hosted a series of concerts presented by CBC Music as part of the Road to the Junos series. A litany of talented acts performed during the week, and on Nights 2 & 4, HAFILAX’s own Trevor was in attendance and snapped a few shots of the action. Enjoy!
On Night 4, there was magic in the air with the fitting (but uncommon) pairing of Rose Cousins and Jenn Grant, whose music is perfectly paired. Watching the pair banter and joke between songs I believe these two talented musicians could easily host their own talk/variety shows.
Fans of the local music scene would have quickly recognized that Rose brought along the East Pointers to comprise a part of her band, and singer Tim Chaisson accompanied Rose at different points of her set. Then Jenn Grant came out and performed a flawless set, but before departing, she welcomed some fellow vocalists to the stage to assist her in debuting her protest song “Hello Everyone (Ceasefire Now)”, a song that not only brought together 35 musicians from around the world, but served as a fundraiser for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society with 100% of the proceeds going to that organization. It was a special night, elevated through the way Jenn used her platform.
