The thing about being a Music Geek is that you’re essentially a sponge for all sorts of music, good, bad, or otherwise. Songs are constantly leaving indelible marks all over your back-story which makes A Song From Your Childhood something of an interesting challenge. What I’m going to do is run down a pair of songs that started me down the path to becoming a music geek.
My origin story always includes stories of me visiting my Uncle Doug’s house and sifting through his extensive record collection, I really liked the album art which ultimately led me to some great tunes as well. I remember being obsessed with Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell and his debut eponymous album, specifically the hit single “White Wedding”, for whatever reason that song resonated with me and to this day still does. The other record that I remember being drawn to (and eventually became the first Cassette I ever owned) was Killer on a Rampage by Eddy Grant and from there tracks such as “War Party”, “I Don’t Wanna Dance” and “Electric Avenue” would forever be the start of my soundtrack.
