On The Road – Cape Breton

Roadtrip vehicle Hybrid

We’ve been spending the past few days slowly making our way up the Eastern Shore and through Cape Breton.  It is the off season, so the roads and towns have been quiet, but the natural surroundings are just starting to come to life.

The frost is just starting to melt, bringing about a rush of impromptu rivers and waterfalls.  The beaches are empty, but the ocean is warm.

Cape Breton always feels like a shock to the senses.  There are so many colours – bright greens, deep blues, pure whites.  The air is crisp and clean, and almost everywhere you go you can hear water – rivers, waves (and on days like today, rain).

So far, we’ve been touring beaches and trails and doing a lot of eating.  The food scene in Sydney is really growing, with gourmet comfort foods at Flavor, Italian options at Amadeos and Mediterranean options that will set your senses alight at The Olive Tree.
