Made with just three ingredients, these Strawberry Watermelon Slushies are filled with fresh, flavourful fruit for a quick and refreshing drink!
Guys, I was not made for the heat. Some people love it, wait all year for those hot days and just luxuriate in it. I do not. Maybe we should have rethought this Louisiana move…. the good thing is that every afternoon, there’s a fierce summer storm with torrential rain. After that it’s usually quite nice.
I’m running out of refreshing things. I can’t eat ice cream all the time, as much as I want to.
I’ve also been loving the gorgeous southern fruit – peaches, watermelon… everything is bursting with flavour! We do not get watermelons this sweet at home – mangoes either! They were so sweet, so juicy and refreshing, I instantly knew I had something to help with my heat problem!
(I’m also still quite sour about missing both strawberry seasons this year, the one in NS and the one here in Louisiana, so of course I had to include those!)
Step one, chop the strawberries and watermelons into small pieces (easier for your blender that way!), and top with ice!
Blend away! I pulsed mine at first, just to give my blender a break until everything was mostly broken down. Then I brought it to a high speed for about 30 seconds. Quick and easy.
Ugh that colour just makes me so happy! It’s the perfect summer drink!
Cool… refreshing… sweet… it’s perfect for a party! Or a baby shower!
My friend Stephanie from Sustaining the Powers had her baby yesterday, so a couple of my blog friends and I are throwing her a virtual baby shower. We have so many ideas for things to make! Check them out!

Made with just three ingredients, these Strawberry Watermelon Slushies are filled with fresh, flavourful fruit for a quick and refreshing drink!
- 1 cup fresh strawberries halved and quartered
- 3 cups watermelon cubed (about 1/4 large watermelon)
- 3-5 cups ice
- 2 Tbsp water
- Optional: sugar to taste
-
Place strawberries, watermelon, ice and water into a blender or food processor.
-
Pulse until the ice is mostly broken down, and then blend for about 30 seconds. Serve immediately.
This recipe is very versatile. You can make it with frozen fruit (lower the amount of ice, start with only 1 cup and then work your way up until it's the proper consistency). You can also turn it alcoholic by adding a shot or two of rum!
The fruit I had was sweet enough that I didn't need to add sugar, but you might want to.
