The Joy Formidable, Wolf’s Law, Atlantic Records

Metaphorically speaking, The Joy Formidable’s debut album “The Big Roar” was a lion just raging to get out of it’s cage, with it’s over-powering vocals and come crashing down guitars, you’d swear it was king of the jungle. With their seconf album “The Wolf’s Law” you are getting a re-hash of the previous that follows the same structure. Take the song “Tendons”, like their previous hit “Whirring” the song builds up to ferocious, loud chorus but in this case, it just falls flat. Instead of a fierce predator this time around, you are getting meal time with the wolves. And like after every big meal, you’ll be put to sleep with this one.
