Fans of Community will recognize Childish Gambino as Troy (hetero life-mate to Danni Pudi’s lovable Abed). While this could easily be discountedasa novelty effort, it’s safe to say it’s anything but! Donald Glover manages to channel two of the biggestnamesonCash Money records (no, I’m not talking about Nicki Minaj either), simply press play on “Freaks and Geeks” and your mind might be blown by the pop-culture laden flow of Childish Gambino. This is what hip-hop should be, tight, visceral and relevant. This EP is short and sweet, and will be something that will sneak up on you and knock you on your ass. Hopefully Childish will find sometime to hit the studio and put out a new LP.
