Coldplay, Viva La Vida, Parlophone

Viva La Vida is one of only two discs that have managed to wedge themselves into my stereo for weeks at a time (the otherbeingTha Carter III). This is not to say it was love at first listen, Violet Hill didn’t elicit a response until it found itself amongst the other nine tracks on Coldplay’s fourth studio album. It was during the third and fourth spin of the disc that the album began to reveal its myriad of sounds, tracks such as “42”, “Lost” and “Strawberry Swing” simply sunk their hooks in and refuse to relinquish their hold. Coldplay have proven that they could very well be the next U2.
