Ever since our 10 Fall Day Trips Within Two Hours of Halifax post went live, I’ve had tons of people asking about the location of the header photo – the charming bridge foot path in New Glasgow.
That bridge is part of the Samson Trail in New Glasgow. We kicked fall off with a run along the trail this weekend. The 5 km stretch was once rail road tracks, and the path will take you along the river and past one of the old stations.
Drew took me through the Johnny Miles 1/2 Marathon route, which takes runners through the Samson Trail. There are permanent signs along the route for Johnny Miles.
A few other features to keep an eye out for – the green gym, the two statues, and the many interpretive signs that point out an old mine shaft and historic sites formerly along the trail.
It’s sad to say goodbye to summer, but here in Nova Scotia, Fall does a pretty good job of softening that blow. What’s your favourite place to hike, walk, or run come fall?
