The Summit Spa – Halifax, NS

OPI James Bond Special Edition

Winter is coming.  It doesn’t feel like it most days, but during our early morning and evening walks with Charlie, I feel it.  And while I can ignore the signs most days with a heavier jacket and a brisker step, my skin is not so lucky.  It is already showing tell-tale signs of a change in season with dry patches and spots

This was top of mind while surfing twitter last week.  I was adding more spas to my ‘follow’ list when I caught a tweet from The Summit (summitspa.ca @TheSummitNS).  “Never been to The Summit? Take advantage of our FREE mini facial or mini pedicure offer before it expires Dec 1st. – No catches just free.”

I had never been to The Summit, but I use to walk by their Park Lane location, and often stopped to browse their specials.  Over the summer, The Summit moved to the new TD Building on Spring Garden. The space is located on the bottom floor, and is larger and quieter than its past home.

If you take the elevator (it’s only one floor, but I wasn’t sure when I arrived) you step off right into the spa area.  There is a large desk and an even larger product area filled with makeup and skin care products.  I was escorted into a smaller, comfy waiting room to fill out a bit of paperwork, and then it was off to the treatment room for a free 1, 2, 3 clean facial.

The facial itself is about 30 minutes and consists of two cleanses, a toner, an exfoliant and a mask.  The cleanses were my favourite part, especially when she wrapped warmed towels lightly scented with juniper around my face.  By the time she was through, my skin felt clean, moisturized, and ready to face the chilly winter weather.

When I finished, Katie did a free makeup application to get me ready to go back out into the world.  I appreciated this a lot, especially given how busy Spring Garden can be, and let’s face it, no one wants to see my bare skin, even after such a great treatment.

They also sent me with parting gifts – a few samples, and a certificate for 20% off my next service.  The Summit specializes in more clinical skin care options.  Katie and I discussed a few during my treatment, and I already have my next service picked out.  And as for the cost – totally free, no catches, except for the fact that I liked it so much that I’m going to come back.
