Let’s Build a List!

Hi Folks!

First of all, I just want to say thank you for reading and subscribing, it’s so nice to know that we’re not alone in our Nightshade Free journey!

I have a project that I’m working on, and I would LOVE to have your input! I’m compiling a list of Nightshade Allergen free foods for the site. While I love making things at home, and find they’re are so much healthier and more flavourful, sometimes you just don’t have the time or the budget. I will probably never make cheese regularly but a LOT of different cheeses have nightshades in them (looking at you, orange cheddar cheese… especially of the pre-shredded variety with your added potato starch…). Since Nightshades hide in the most unsuspecting of places, I thought a nice solid, searchable list of pre-approved foods would be handy!

Let me give you a few examples (please note that I’m in no way associated with these brands!):

White Cheddar Cheese (Kraft, Great Value, Best Choice, Cabot)
Hellman’s Original Mayonnaise (US ONLY)
Vegenaise (Vegan, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Kosher)
Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce – orange label (CANADA ONLY)
Great Value Fully Cooked Grilled Chicken – green label, Walmart freezer section

Subway – white bread only, no peppers or tomatoes. Ensure staff uses clean knife and gloves, and if extremely sensitive ask for new containers of vegetables from the kitchen.

This will be a continually updating list that I will add to as suggestions come in, and your suggestions will be credited to you unless you let me know otherwise. So what are your standbys? What can you always count on to be ‘safe’? Let me know in the comments or fill out the form on our contact page. Thank you in advance for all your help!
