The vineyard at Blomidon was originally planted in 1986. It was intended to provide grapes to another Nova Scotia winery, Jost Vineyards. The property came under new ownership and, in 2002, it re-opened as Blomidon Estate Winery. Today, Blomidon grows 18 acres of vines on their sceneic 25 acre property. Their portfolio includes Baco Noir, L’Acadie Blanc, Seyval Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and New York Muscat. In December 2013, they released BMD, a lightly off-dry, sparkling red wine.
We like that each grape variety in the vineyard is labeled. Take a tour and get a better sense of the grapes that go into each bottle. Blomidon Estate offers a single sample free of charge. You can also purchase a series of tasting flights for a few dollars.
