There are times when planning a vacation that the adventure is forefront, with accommodations as a welcome addition. There are other times when the accommodation IS the vacation. A night in a hotel can be a simple way to relax and recharge. Such was the case on a recent trip to the Holiday Inn Express in Stellarton (@HIEStellarton).
We had been feeling a bit worn out, the joys of both working full time and traveling in every spare moment. We decided that from 4 pm – 11 am we were doing nothing other than ordering in (PC Pizza of course), watching a movie, relaxing poolside and taking a trip down the 80 ft waterslide. Sleeping in a comfortable king size bed was also a pretty good perk.
We left feeling recharged, and ready to explore. Conveniently, HI Express Stellarton is close to a number of attractions. The Museum of Industry is a mere five-minute walk from here. It is also located between the Sampson and Albion Trails, beautifully kept walking trails along the East River. Plus, during the summer you’re only a five-minute drive from one of the few remaining drive-in movie theatres in Nova Scotia (Alma).
As you might imagine, we saw plenty of families with children enjoying the slide. In fact, it seems the place is so family-friendly that there’s been a family staying there for over a year while they complete construction of their new house. They even have a plaque with their name on the door.
If you’re looking for a relaxing stay in Pictou County with a central base of operations to explore the Sunrise Trail or push on to Cape Breton Island, the Holiday Inn Express in Stellarton will suit your needs.
