Gaspereau Vineyards

Gaspereau Vineyards 2013 Tidal Bay from Gaspereau vineyard

Gaspereau Vineyards

For two centuries, Gaspereau Vineyards property was home to an apple orchard. In 1997, those apples were replaced with grape vines. Today, they produce eight different grape varieties. Those grapes go into their line-up of white, red, rose, ice and sparkling wines and port. Gaspereau Vineyards has been named Winery of the Year (Atlantic Canadian Wine Competition, 2011) and has received a Sustainable Tourism Award (TIANS 2009).

The Gaspereau Vineyards gift shop has a large tasting bar. If it is open, you can try it. The staff asked us our wine preferences and took care to describe how each wine might appeal to us. It made us keen to buy the many bottles we fell in love with. If you get a chance, say “hi” to Gina Haverstock, owner and wine maker at Gaspereau Vineyards. She is a wealth of knowledge on the local wine scene. You can see a clip of Gina (and learn more about NS Wine) in the video below.
