In 2014, Nova Scotia will be home to not one, but two events owned and operated by PGA Tour.
According to NovaScotia.ca, Ashburn Golf Course has secured the Web.com Tour for both 2014 and 2015, with a potential 2016 stop. According to the press release, the event has the potential to bring thousands of people, international attention, and $3.5 million in economic activity to the province.
The Web.com Tour is owned and operated by the PGA Tour and features some of the top golfers in the world. Ashburn Golf Course will host the only Canadian stop.The Web.com Tour event will be part of GOLFfest Nova Scotia (June 29-July 6). GOLFest will also feature the Nova Scotia Open, the Junior Canada Cup and the Canada Cup.
In September, Cape Breton will host a second PGA Tour event. The PGA Tour Canada Cape Breton Celtic Classic will be held Sept. 1-7, at The Lakes Golf Club in Ben Eoin. Nova Scotia will be the only province in Canada hosting two PGA Tour events.
The province is investing $600,000 over two years in The Web.com tour being held at Ashburn. That event will be televised on the Golf Channel to an audience of 81 million households in 192 countries.
