Propeller Beer – Halifax

Propeller Beer is perhaps the provinces best known craft brewery, and with good reason. From their widely appealing Honey Brown and Pilsner to their stronger Double IPA and Revolution Russian Imperial Stout, they have a beer for every taste. In October, they brew a special beer called Nocturn Dark, in celebration of the popular Halifax festival Nocturn Art By Night. Stop by their Gottingen street brewery to take a tour or pick up a refillable growler. If you aren’t into beer, Propeller also makes root beer and ginger soda.

Year Opened: 1995

Location: 2015 Gottingen Street

Second Location: 617 Windmill Rd, Dartmouth

Samples available on-site? Yes (and you can book a tour and tasting for a fee)

We Recommend: Propeller is widely available, possibly the most available of any local craft beer, but we recommend grabbing a pint of their IPA at the Old Triangle. You can also try the Field Guide, the only local restaurant to carry their Pale Ale on tap.

Propeller Pale Ale: 30 IBU’s

Propeller Extra Special Bitter: 30 IBU’s

Propeller London Porter: 39 IBU’s

Propeller Honey Wheat Ale: 15 IBU’s

Propeller Pilsner: 27 IBU’s

Propeller IPA: 6.5% ABV / 68 IBU’s
