Avondale Sky Winery

Avondale Sky Winery is one of the newest in Nova Scotia, but their vineyard is one of the oldest.  The vines aren’t the only thing with history. When the owners started the winery they decided to purchase a barn and relocate it to the vineyard.  In addition to barns, they had offers for a few churches.  After settling on St. Matthews Church from Walton, they floated it 42km down the river.  It’s an impressive sight. Big, ornate, stained glass windows flood the tasting area with coloured light.

The wines at Avondale Sky Winery are equally impressive. Try some at their tasting bar. Full bottles can be purchased on-site. They also sell a number of Canadian-made treats, including an amazing garlic salt rub (sometimes available to taste with the wines).
