Le Caveau Re-Opens After December 2012 Fire

Happy news arrived in my inbox today.  Le Caveau will be reopening at the end of the month!

Le Caveau is an award winning restaurant in Grand Pre, right in the heart of NS ‘wine country’. The peaceful outdoor courtyard, good food and great wine have made it a favourite stop for @DrewMooreNS and I.  Late last year, a fire meant an early end to the 2012 season, but thankfully they will re-open on April 26th.

Le Caveau Reopens after Fire

In a press release today, Beatrice Stutz, owner and restaurant manager said, “We are excited to welcome back our guests in April.  The fire affected mostly the kitchen area…so we were able to keep the same architecture with the original woodwork and finishes in the dining room, but we have made improvements to make it more private and cozy.”

The fire on December 18, 2012, reportedly began in the kitchen floor and dining room ceiling.  While it caused extensive smoke and water damage, the structural damage was minimal.  Major renovations have been made to the kitchen and the dining room has been refinished to its original state.

“Having the kitchen redone has given us the opportunity to push the boundaries of our menu for our clientele,” says Chef Jason Lynch. “We plan on launching the season with a menu dedicated to our customers by featuring some of our most popular dishes from the past five years along with some exciting new dishes.”
