Bistro East Bistro East (http://bistroeast.com) opened it’s doors in 2008 on George Street in the Annapolis Valley. The restaurant offers a variety of fresh, local options in a contemporary setting. It has a small but open dining area around the bar in a brick building on the main drag on St. George Street.
Standout items on the menu were the pizzas (gluten-free available upon request), especially the lobster pizza ($33 for a 16”) and the Seafood Extreme. The latter was a generous serving of Digby Scallops and Atlantic Lobster in a lemon cream sauce on hand made pasta (they make their pasta fresh daily). It came to no surprise that half the restaurant chose this option, and we salivated every time we saw it.
We were looking for lighter fare so we split the chicken nachos and the maple cedar brie platter. At $11 each, we got our money’s worth. The nachos were piled high with plenty of chicken, veggies and cheese. The brie was a round a few inches wide topped with caramelized garlic and surrounded by baguette slices and blueberries.
We recommend calling ahead to make a reservation if you’re planning on going before 8:30pm as the place was packed.
