While in Wolfville, we stopped in for a bite to eat at Paddy’s Pub (@paddysbrew). Located a stones throw from Acadia university, Paddy’s is a pub in the truest sense. Local brew, relaxed atmosphere, chill music and great classic pub fare.
My sister, a former Acadia student, and soon to be Dal Pharmacy student, guided us through the menu highlighting her top picks. For her, the fish cakes and spinach salad, for our friend, a quesadilla that looked out of this world good (if only I could eat that pita!), and for me the meal-sized spinach salad.
I am a big fan of spinach salad, but this one really took the cake. I don’t know if it was the perfect amounts of cheese and bacon, the fine chopped onions or the almost-classic-with-just-a-little-something-more dressing, but Paddy’s gets the blue ribbon for the best spinach salad I have yet to taste in Nova Scotia.
If you are a beer drinker, my sister also recommends their home-made beer, specifically the blueberry and the seasonal pumpkin brew.
**Updated Post **
We had the pleasure of returning to Paddy’s Pub during a recent walking wine tour and couldn’t resist an update on all of the exciting things happening on the menu.
It seems Paddy’s is making a huge effort to support local, and to treat their clientele. The new menu features local favourites such as Fox Hill Farm Cheese and Getaway Farms beef. The upgrade is just one more reason to pay a visit to Paddy’s.
While there, we also tried out the Paddy’s beer sampler, finally getting our hands on some of that blueberry ale. For $5.99, the sampler comes with 6 home-brewed beers. Our top two were the Annapolis Valley ale and the Blueberry Ale. In more great Paddy’s news, the restaurant now offers beer take-out. Pick up a growler, or bring your own to enjoy Paddy’s brew on your deck this summer.
