A Dozen Local Gift Ideas To Get You Excited For The Holidays

An early sneak peek at The Local Wishlist, our 7th annual buy-local gift guide, filled with gift ideas that are made by or sold at independently owned businesses in Nova Scotia. The Local Wishlist is curated from hundreds of gift submissions from across the province. It’s free for local vendors to apply, thanks to some amazing local businesses and organizations who sponsor the project.

Take a closer look at this striking image of the iconic Citadel town clock, and you’ll see a street map of the city hidden inside. This beautiful print was designed and made in Yarmouth by Saltwreck, and you can order it directly from them online.

2. Brunch for Two Gift Box

Maple lovers will be thrilled if you gift them with this box full of Sugar Moon Farm goodies. Maple syrup and maple butter will make weekend breakfasts even sweeter, along with their famous pancake mix and fair trade organic coffee. These charming tree mugs are designed and made by Seastar Pottery in Seaforth, and feel great in the hand while you sip your morning cuppa. You can find them at Made In The Maritimes‘ Hydrostone and Bedford locations, and at their new holiday pop-up in Scotia Square.

6. Max the Cat Doodle Desk Calendar

This is Max, the actual cat of Design Corner’s creator, and his crazy poses inspire doodle art for every month of the year. Max and his owner live and work in Head of St. Margaret’s Bay, and you can find their calendar on Etsy.
