Show Shots // HUFF: Nick Earle w/ Burry, Jamie Fontaine @ 2037 Gottingen // 03.10.25

When the HUFF announcement initially went out for the October 3rd show at the Seahorse, it included a trio of HAFILAX favorites with Jamie Fontaine, Elyse Aeryn and Nick Earle all performing.   Unfortunately, due to a serious motorcycle accident, Elyse Aeryn was unable to perform, and the talented performer Burry stepped up to perform in Elyse’s stead.    It was a potent three act bill for the Friday night show.

Kicking off the festivities on the Seahorse stage was none other than Jamie Fontaine.  The talented singer who is better known for his modern country sound, brought a rockier edge to his performance incorporating a great cover of the Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly” towards the tail end of the set.   Fontaine teased a new song that was ready to drop a couple weeks after the show, but it wasn’t quite ready for the set (“Let’s Get Started”).    Even as the days have grown dark and cold, Jamie’s brand of modern country will keep up thinking of those warm and sunny days that lie ahead.

Burry stepped up and joined the HUFF Line up, bringing their indie pop vibes to the Seahorse stage. On this night, Burry accompanied by Cassie Mann and Spencer McPhee found a way to translate that dreamy soundscape from the 2025 EP I’m Tired to a shimmering, crowd pleasing set.  They certainly did Elyse and the HUFF organizers proud with this performance.

Nick Earle

When Nick Earle hit the Seahorse stage on the Friday night of HUFF, I was immediately struck by the energy displayed on stage by the Newfoundland Music Rock Artist of the Year.   It was clear that Nick Earle belongs on stage, the energy was pure, infectious positivity, and immediately reminded me of local favorite Andre Pettipas (that double bill would be unreal).    Nick, Clare, and Dan tore up the Seahorse Stage with a killer set, and proved that Nick and the Reckless Hearts are a must see whenever they land in Halifax.
