On the Thursday night of the Halifax Urban Folk Festival, the always great Pretty Archie made their way back to Halifax, to headline the show on stage at the Basement of the Shoe. Brian, Colin, Redmond, and Matt brought a slice of Sydney to the mainland and treated the packed room to a collection of tracks (both new and old) from the band’s ever expanding catalogue.
Kicking off the proceedings was local genre-benders Bill Ricky, a band that is one of the up-and-coming acts in the city and who continue to evolve and grow with each performance. On this night, the band dialed back a bit of the ferocity, and put on a set that was more subtle and refined than the last time I caught them. It was a great set, and showcased the wealth of talent in this band. Always a great time when Bill Ricky hits the stage.
It was a great way to close out Thursday Night at HUFF.
