Cole Chalifoux

My first taste of the Bologna Colorado (@bolognacolorado) magic, wasn’t even at a Bologna show, it was standing on the Halifax Waterfront watching The Last Waltz (@thelastwaltzhalifax) show during Halifax Jazz Fest (@hfxjazzfest) The moment that Bologna CO frontman Cole Chalifoux hit the stage, he blew more than a few folks away with his guitar mastery. It was in that moment that I made it a point to seek out this band the first chance I got.

Needless to say, I’ve been to my share of Bologna shows, and each and every time there is this palpable energy, much like someone flicking a match at a powder keg and waiting for that explosion. Cole Chalifoux is that explosion, he has an unrivaled energy that makes for an exciting live performance, and it still makes me think of Early Cobain, and modern day Yungblud.

Earlier in the week, I got a message to come check the band out on the Seahorse stage as they were playing a set that weekend.  Luckily, the logistics worked themselves out, as the Tool Tribute show wrapped early, and I managed to get to 2037 Gottingen before the band hit the stage.   Even as tired as I may have been, it was all forgotten the moment that Emily, Adam, Will and Cole hit the stage.   The band ripped through a crowd pleasing set of electric, high-energy tunes, that always teeter on the edge of absolute chaos.   The experience is undeniable, and the band is as exciting and engaging as ever.   That first experience got me in the door, and the band has kept me coming back time and time again.  Until the next one.
