Can Music Save The World?

Two years ago, a good friend came to me with an idea that, at the time, seemed completely off the wall.  It wasn’t an idea that would change the way a musician strings his/her guitar, or one that would mash your potatoes while simultaneously boiling them (but how cool would that one be).  No, this idea was one which would be more stimulating, semi-quasi thought provoking and an all-around good time.  What had originally began as a core group of individuals coming together to create a one-time only comedic rock show, has since evolved and grown into a full on comedy assault, worthy of a regular series.

Local musicians/writers/idea men Ian MacDonald, Ed Renzi, Kyle Varley, Brad Stevens & Pete MacDonald have joined forces to create a musical mini-series that will allow the viewer to ponder the presented message, while allowing for some laughs along the way.

With years of experience in the fields of music, acting and stage production, this troupe has blended some of the most over-the-top fictional bands to hit the small screen since Spinal Tap.  Here you will find bands Heaventh Heaven, The Brozone Players, Bohemian Goorve just to name a few, and with sounds ranging from glam rock to synth pop, there’s a likely probability that you’ll leave being satiated both audibly and visually.

It’s not as easy however as putting videos together and throwing them up online with the hope that a famous producer will stumble upon them, and then actually enjoy what he/she has discovered.  No, this is all up to the viewers, the readers and the internet folk who have the power to help spread the word that there is more to this life than the daily grind.

When you get a chance, head on over to the CBC site and take a look at what this creative force has put together.  Signing up and voting might seem trivial to some people, but every vote counts and could go a long way in helping this troupe realize their goal.

I can’t honestly say if a battle of the bands will save the world, but from the looks of things, there’s a pretty good chance we’re all in for one heck of a ride while trying to figure it out.

You can follow the group’s daily process on their Facebook page or over on CBC.
