Combat des Clips: Purity Ring vs. Grimes

Two indie-electronic-dream-pop bands. Two fronted by cute young women. Two bands based out of Canada. It’s Purity Ring vs. Grimes, in a battle of the bands. Who wins? You decide!

Well actually, I just love both of these bands, and they get rotated on my music library regularly. And when I mean regularly, I mean all the time. They both have a pretty distinct sound, somewhere between ground-breaking & astronomical. but both have a similarity in style. So, what better way to show off these two bands in band A vs. band B battle.

First up, in the blue corner… they are known for their amazing lighting shows, and their atmospheric sound that can move mountains. They played at the Halifax Pop Explosion last year, and are hailing from Edmonton, Alberta. Give it up for Purity Ring!

Next up, in the red corner… know for her eclectic mix of styles, which she describes as “ADD music”. (I pulled that one off of wiki). She’s been touring, and conquering festivals one by one. Hailing from Vancouver, BC. She’s the one, and only Grimes!

Round One, we go head-to-head with their most popular tracks from their latest albums. It’s Purity Ring’s “Fineshrine” vs. Grimes’ “Oblivion”…
