For a Day that seemed relatively easy, as I started to develop a list of my favorite songs with a Person’s Name in the title it became increasingly difficult. Songs such as “Jeremy”, “Cortez the Killer”, “Angie” all got bandied about as possible selections and I could have made a case for each of them, but there was one song that was rattling around in the back of my head. That song is a cover of “Jolene” (originally recorded by Dolly Parton) performed by The White Stripes/Jack White. It’s a track that transcends genres, and Jack White makes it into this soaring singalong which is nothing short of infectious. It’s just another example of Jack White’s brilliance.
