With this being the last day in this challenge, I’ve decided to keep this one short and sweet.

With so many songs to choose from, it was difficult to pick one (needless to say, a quick look at my top 10 most played tracks in iTunes provided no help). After spending a good deal of time, mulling over different songs by different artists I have to say that “Sultans Of Swing” by Dire Straits has got to be my favourite song.

I first heard this song about 15 years ago and can honestly say that I’ve never grown tired of hearing this track. It truly is a timeless piece of music and the fact that it was originally released in 1978 only helps to prove this. Combining a great blend of blues and rock, Knopfler was able to write a six minute song that listens like a 3 minute radio hit. The skill and technicality in which he is able to play his guitar is really put in the spotlight on this one.

This is the one song that makes me wish I could play the guitar. Perfection.
