30 Day Facebook Challenge (Jeff Edition) – Day 22 – Funniest Song

I’m not sure if I can sit back and honestly say that song A or B should be considered a “funny song”. How would one consider a song to be funny? Should I think of a song that makes me laugh (like watching Jim Carey in Ace Ventura) or should I be thinking more along the lines of a dark funny? (where I know there is a joke but it doesn’t quite make you laugh) What about the rules of picking a genre? Should I be able to use something by Ray Stevens or Adam Sandler, or should they be omitted due to the fact that they’re comedians?

The conclusion that I did eventually come to, was that I really shouldn’t put any thought into this day and just go with it. So with that being said, my mind could only go to one place…..Weird Al Yankovic.

I was young when I was first introduced to Weird Al, and there has always been apart of me which has held onto that goofy, type of music which he put out. What’s really weird is the amount of talent this guy actually has. Musically he’s super, super solid and has a great mind (for what he does).

There are a bunch of songs that I still enjoy listening to, every now and then, but the one that gets me every time has got to be “The Night Santa Went Crazy”.

The picture is perfectly painted, with happiness and joy as the workers in the North Pole, busy themselves with the job of preparing for christmas. All seems well until Santa snaps and the next thing you know elves are getting killed and reindeer are being completely destroyed. It’s sick and twisted, but you can’t help get a chuckle out of how ironic it is that the happiest person in the world, during one of the happiest times of the year, creates one of the most barbaric scenes ever put to lyrics.
