Friday Night Soundtrack – Dec. 14, 2012

The Friday Night Soundtrack is an opportunity for we here at HAFILAX to throw out a Top 5 list of any genre or artist that we may be digging at a particular time. If the list is something you dig, raise a glass and throw one down. If it doesn’t, there’s always next week.

Week one ended up being more difficult than I originally thought. This should have been an easy task but it wasn’t until I had a conversation with a friend that I knew how I was going to roll. This week is dedicated to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia’s own Joel Plaskett. I must admit that initially I didn’t dig Plaskett. It wasn’t until 2006, when I had the opportunity to catch a live show, that I started getting into his music. Since that time I’ve dove head first into his discography and can’t find any problems with his work. Every time a live show comes around it’s always a pleasure to see him take the stage.

Come On Teacher

Simple little song about being a badass in school and growing up. The french bit in the school kills me every time.

Penny For Your Thoughts

Fantastic little rhythm and has a super awesome key change….which we all know is ALWAYS a good thing.

Nowhere With You

It has Na na na’s, which you can never go wrong with. EVERYONE loves na na nas! Plus the intro noises absolutely remind me of my little nephew so it has to be on the list.

Snowed In/Crusin’

This song just oozes with flow and the switch at the 4:41 mark is a fantastic transition. It’s all about the vibe with this one.

True Patriot Love

A huge crowd pleaser. This song just pumps.
