Stephen Marley, Mind Control, Tuff Gong / Universal Republic

Albums that knock you on your ass the moment you press play and those first notes pour from the speakers, don’t come along very often and when they do they are something to be treasured and shared with the world. Stephen Marley’s debut album Mind Control is one of those albums. Son of Bob and brother to both Ziggy and Damien, Stephen has learned to channel the spirit of his father. Having honed his skills as a member of the Melody Makers and behind the console for all three of Damien’s solo albums, Stephen has emerged from the background to release an album that could easily eclipse the work of his siblings. With songs such as “Chase Dem” and “Fed Up”, a water pipe will hardly be necessary these tracks will have you floating. This is a debut album that would have made his father proud.
