Nelly Furtado, Loose-The Concert, Geffen

While it was Nelly Furtado’s collaboration with Timbaland on her 2006 effort Loose that solidified her place on the pop map. Her singles are still heard across the country on a frequent basis, however it’s likely that the majority of listeners have never stopped to wonder how these songs would translate into a live setting as opposed to hearing the studio recordings (this of course would be the safe assumption). There is no questioning that Ms. Furtado is a talented vocalist, however this live CD/DVD package fails to properly capture anything more than your hard earned cash. The CD gives the distinct feeling of being in a big auditorium, unfortunately Nelly’s vocals end up getting buried deep into the mix. Strangely, her stage banter seems to find a way to emerge from time to time, ultimately Loose-The Concert is a disappointing effort.
