Neil Young, Live at Massey Hall: 1971, Reprise/WEA

Neil Young is one of the most distinguished artists in Canadian music history, an artist who has constantly been in a state of evolution, bridging the gaps between genres such asfolk, rock and country. Young has also been considered the godfather of grunge.Inthe36 years since the recording of this performance at Massey Hall, little has changed with his bashfully fragile voice. This landmark performance plays like a greatest hits album, with tracks such as “Old Man”, “Needle and the Damage Done”, “Cowgirl in the Sand” and “Tell Me Why” shining bright and at the time of recording, a lot of these tracks were considered new, which effortlessly shows the reason why Young has enjoyed the longevity that he has. As time rolls on, new releases from Neil will grow further and further apart, which is why the releases from the archives will keep Young’s material relevant and fresh.
