James Morrison, Undiscovered, Polydor

Friends will recommend all kinds of albums. Some hit the mark, while others miss by a mile. Unfortunately James Morrison’s Undiscovered falls into the latter category as it’s analbum that fails to leave a lasting impression. From the plaintive, derivative cover art to the too-smooth soul infused pop-rock sounds of his debut. It simply fails to scratch that itch. Undiscovered doesn’t seem to have much weight to it, it is an annoying as that overly perky co-worker on Monday morning. His sound could be described as a Joe Cocker-esque feel (minus his gravelly rasp). Morrison has been garnering a fair amount of praise from UK audiences as his singles “You Give Me Something” (his first North American release) and “Wonderful World” both went Top 10, however it remains to be seen how N.American will respond to James Morrison once they realize that Jim is still believed to be dead.
