Julian Casablancas, Phrazes for the Young, Sony/BMG

While Casablancas reminded us of his pedigree on the opening track “Out of the Blue”, he leads us through the rabbit hole of his soul and presents us with Phrazes For the Young, his solo-debut that serves as his audio playground. A playground that brings in elements of Beck, Radiohead and even 80’s ambient synth-pop, which serve to buoy the retro 70’s era garage rock which was critically acclaimed when it stormed the airwaves in 2001. After listening to his solo effort, people will come to find out that Casablancas is far more than just the front-man of The Strokes.
