Before you start to think all I do on this blog is make lists, this is the last for this season, I promise.
Here’s a list of every single movie I watched in 2022, partly inspired by filmmaker Edgar Wright who keeps a similar list.
Between keeping up with brand new features, both on streaming services and on the big screen — at film festivals or the multiplex (titles marked with an asterisk) — programming for Carbon Arc Cinema, and watching older movies for the podcast, LENS ME YOUR EARS, sometimes even watching movies to discuss on CBC radio, I’m seeing a lot of movies in the run of an average week.
Still, it’s all relative. This year I saw 268 films, which I suspect is fewer than some dedicated film lovers I know — though a few of them I watched more than once (I’ve kept a tally of those, too).
It’s not nearly as many as I watched 2021, which is partly due to the fact I no longer have the good fortune to carry a Cineplex Premiere Card, which last year granted me a free pass to any film at the multiplex.
