Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival is this week

Running from Wednesday, June 8 to Sunday, June 12, is the Halifax Independent Filmmakers Festival, showing local and, as they say, “fiercely independent” shorts and feature films at the Deep Water Church (formerly North Street Church), 5657 North Street. Go here for the festival website.

Here’s the festival trailer:

Aside from a number of shorts programs featuring the most creative local filmmakers, also screening is the documentary Don’t Blink: Robert Frank on Friday evening, and on Sunday they’re showing Miguel Gomes’ Arabian Nights, the three-part, six hour Portuguese epic that wowed at Cannes.
