Director Brad Peyton was born in Gander, Newfoundland, and even directed a few episodes of  Republic of Doyle. I’m not sure how he got this gig, helming a huge disaster movie like San Andreas, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but good for him. I wish I had more positive things to say about it.

I have a lot of time for Cameron Crowe, but I haven’t really liked one of his movies since Almost Famous, which is 15 years old. Hard to believe, eh? I’m happy to report he’s delivered a new feature that’s very much worth seeing: Aloha, starring Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, and Bill Murray. It’s far from perfect, but I found it irresistible. Here’s my full review.
