Put away your preconceived ideas — this is one sausage fest you don’t want to miss.
Hosted by our friends at Local Connections Halifax Magazine in partnership with over 25 local eateries, markets, and vineyards (think Ace Burger Co, Agricola Street Brasserie, The Stubborn Goat, Luckett, L’Acadie, and Gaspereau Vineyards, and yes, even enVie – A Vegan Kitchen), the second annual Sausage Fest is a week-long celebration of the super fun and super tasty food of summer: the sausage.
Boasting over a dozen individual events throughout the week in Halifax, Lunenburg, and the Annapolis Valley, Sausage Fest is the meatiest time of year.
But there’s one catch: most of these events are already sold out. Here are five Sausage Fest 2014 events you can still get into, so giddy-up!
AUGUST 15 – Prop’r Cask Night ft. Agricola Street Brasserie
For this magical evening, local chef Ludo Eveno of Agricola Street Brasserie will prepare a sausage feast worthy of memory. Of course being a Cask Night, patrons will also get to enjoy a very special one-off beer along with a fine roster of Propeller craft brews. Included in the ticket price is an Official Commemorative Sausage Fest Glass to remember this special event!
Tickets: $37.50
The event will feature a showcase of local restaurants, as well as local food and drink producers. And yes, there will be ice cream!
For entertainment we’ll be hosting the Pete’s Sausage Showdown (think Iron Chef), and the Premium Nova Scotia Porks Chef vs. Sausage (sausage makers contest).
The TELUS Kids’ Zone opens right around 9am and will feature a couple of delightful bouncy castles, balloon sculptures, reading corner, and more.
We’ll also have live music (starting at Noon), and lots of special event seating, including a designated BYOPB (bring your own picnic blanket) area. Throw in free Wifi and a pop-up retail market, and you should now have a picture of just how awesome the day will be.

AUGUST 16 – Sausage Fest at Luckett Vineyards
Join us in celebrating the 2nd annual Sausage Fest brought to you by Local Connections Halifax. There will be live music, a sausage picnic & sausage specials featured in addition to our regular menu!
Come celebrate Sausage on the hill!

AUGUST 17 – Sausage Brunch and Beer Brunch
A special brunch at harbourstone sea grill & pour house. Executive Chef Trevor Simms has created an amazing menu using a variety of sausages handcrafted by Banquet Chef Brian Avery. Also on offer will be local micro-crafted beer From Garrison Brewing Company and North Brewing Company.
Tickets: $29, or $39 beer included
AUGUST 19 – Brews & Brats, Propeller Tap Takeover
Propeller Brewing Company will takeover all eight taps at Lion & Bright with One Hit Wonders & Specialty brews. The team in the kitchen will be serving from an inspired menu featuring the the mighty sausage! As well a live DJ will keep the room lively all night.
A ticket gets you in the door and a ticket for your first beer. As well you will take home an official commemorative Sausage Fest glass.
