13 Very Haunted Places in Nova Scotia

Halifax Ghost tours

Yesterday I chatted with Global Halifax about some of the great ghost walks and graveyard tours here in Nova Scotia. But for those who want an at-home scare, or who want to plan their own haunted itinerary, we’ve pulled together 13 videos of haunted places in Nova Scotia.

There’s a burning Ghost Ship in the Northumberland Straight…

And a gravestone in Halifax that is said to give visitors the symptoms of typhoid fever…

And in that same graveyard, a trouble maker who still plays tricks and laughs at passersby…

There’s said to be a grey nun haunting the Halifax VG Hospital, comforting patients in their final hours. Find it near the end of this great audio-only collection of ghost stories, many of them originating from the Halifax Explosion:

Famous Nova Scotian Alexander Keith was known to keep careful watch of his brewery in life – in death, he’s said to have trouble letting go of his booming business…

Nearby, in the Halifax Club, there are a number of spirits lingering…

And in this building on nearby Barrington Street, you can hear a baby crying…

There are said to be many ghosts at Citadel Hill. The little girl that follows tour groups gives me goosebumps:

There are three ghosts at the 5 Fisherman restaurant, one who can be quite violent. If you visit, ask the servers. Many have heard or had a ghostly experience…

And it isn’t the only haunted restaurant. The Galley in Chester is supposed to be home to a spirit who was violently murdered (start at 2:40)…

Then there is Cossett House, the oldest house in Sydney. This historic house is home to moving chairs, and a number of ghostly voices…

I’m glad I watched this one after I stayed at Boscawen Inn, though our experiences there was ghost free (and supernaturally stunning!)…

Then there is this gem of a video from Nova Scotia Archives, a look at a few of the many, many stories collected by Helen Creighton about forerunners, hauntings, and superstitions…

I’m adding a 14th – this one was suggested by Xavier Donegal after reading this post and it’s just plain creepy. Chills…
