Catch of the Bay – Masstown, NS

A few weeks ago, I asked you, my social media friends for the best fish and chips in Nova Scotia. More than a few of you made it clear that Catch of the Bay at Masstown Market was the place to go. You also told me they had gluten free batter. So imagine my joy when I found out that our #NSJoyRide included a stop at Masstown for fish and chips.

Catch of the Bay

It turns out that this popular chip truck makes their batter with gluten free beer from France. Add in some very fresh fish, rice flour, and corn starch and cook it in fresh oil and voila! A crispy, flavourful, flake at the touch of a fork fried fish.

I haven’t had many fish and chips in the past four years, but this one was as good as any ‘real’ fish and chips I can remember. And I love that the batter just is gluten free. Not a gluten free option, everyone gets the same batter.

They use that same gluten free batter on the rest of their fried options, including clams and scallops.

Walk off your meal before or after with a trip up the lighthouse, where you can learn about fun activities in the area, get a themed photo in the photo booth, and check out the view of the Bay of Fundy from the top.
