2013 Nova 7 Now Available

Did you know that Nova 7 outsold all other 750 ml wines available in Nova Scotia last year? That includes every international offering. For the past few years, this NS gem has been selling out in a matter of months. Two weeks ago, we mentioned that Nova 7 was available for pre-order (and free delivery). But if you missed out (we did), you can pick up a bottle at most NS liquor and specialty liquor stores starting April 10th!

2013 Nova 7 Tasting Notes:

“In the glass, a beautiful light orchid pink. On the nose, bursts of white rose and passion fruit are brightened by notes of lime and grapefruit. On the palate, the wine is crisp and refreshing with hints of mango and candied green apple. A light spritz enhances the wine’s vibrancy.”

BENJAMIN BRIDGE ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF ITS 2013 NOVA 7

Press Release: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 (Gaspereau Valley, Nova Scotia)
The 2013 vintage of Nova 7 will be released in Nova Scotia liquor stores on Thursday, April 10th with eight other provincial releases across Canada to follow. Despite selling out within months last year, Nova 7 outsold all other 750 ml wines available in Nova Scotia, including every international wine offering.  In its 7th year, Nova 7 is expected to reach even greater heights this year.

Described as a “category unto itself” and “world-class”, the success of locally-grown and produced Nova 7 is being welcomed as a good news story for Nova Scotia communities all across the province. In preview tastings of the latest 2013 vintage from Meteghan to Cheticamp, the enthusiasm for this artisan wine is greater than ever with wine consumers and professionals eager to support the continued success of a locally-sourced and locally-produced wine from rural Nova Scotia.

Benjamin Bridge head winemaker, Jean-Benoit Deslauriers, described Nova 7’s impact this way, in his recent tour of NSLC stores to launch the wine:

“In visiting all 106 NSLC stores across Nova Scotia this past month, I was able to convey to supporters what a difference they have made in our community of the Gaspereau Valley by standing behind a local product, but they spoke about the wine being “their wine” and what a good news story the wine has been for the whole Province.”

While local pride has contributed enormously to the brand’s success, meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard and to winemaking techniques have ensured that the quality of the product reaches even greater heights with each new vintage. What began as an experiment to explore the potential of Nova Scotia’s cool grape growing climate, has continued to garner rave reviews from wine writers across Canada year after year, with Nova 7 being described as “seductively aromatic”, “liquid exuberance”, “a sensation” and “an east coast trailblazer”. Gerry McConnell, Benjamin Bridge’s owner, explains:

“The thinking and planting for Nova 7 began back in 2000. We experimented with 15 grape varieties, dozens of different grape growing and wine making techniques because we wanted to craft the best possible wines made from grapes grown right here in Nova Scotia. Nova 7 is a vintage specific wine – in other words, it’s a wine that reflects the best of what Mother Nature gives us each year. So every vintage is a little different. We continue to experiment, pushing the limits of what our climate gives us, which we believe, has led to our most complex vintage yet, our new 2013 Nova 7 release.”

As Nova Scotia’s most acclaimed wine, this year’s vintage will find its way onto store shelves and restaurants in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Québec, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and the Yukon. With Nova 7 already acknowledged as a true Canadian original, McConnell agrees, “there’s lots to be proud of, and that’s good for us and it’s good for Nova Scotia.”

In-store tastings for the public will be held throughout the month of April at NSLC stores province-wide, and at Bishop’s Cellar, Harvest Wines & Spirits, Cristall Wine Merchants, and Premier Wine and Spirits.
