As someone who does almost all of my grocery shopping at a market, and who is not the best cook in the world, I am always looking for simple recipes and meal ideas. So, while doing our weekly shopping at the Halifax Seaport Market this week, I asked twitter for a sandwich combo that included turkey from Sweet Williams (our weekly go-to sandwich meat).
Here is what we came up with:
Toast two sliced if bread in a toaster or toaster oven (Farm Fresh Foods whole wheat for Drew, School House Gluten Free potato millet for me). Top one slice of bread with cranberry cheddar cheese from Foxhill Farm and melt.
Top the second slice of bread with mustard from Naked Pickle. Cover mustard with slices of turkey from Sweet Willams.
Combine slices of bread into a sandwich and enjoy! The cranberry with the turkey made for a really tasty sandwich made from entirely local products, and took about 5 minutes to make. For the gluten free version, skip the mustard (it contains flour). I have a small jar of spicy mustard that I purchased from Pete’s but I tried mine sans-mustard and it was very good.
