Musicians and Morsels Cookbook

Musicians and Morsels Cook Book

Last week I attended the launch of Musicians and Morsels (@MusicianMorsels) at Chives in Halifax (@ChivesTalkin). I had heard about this cookbook in passing just before the holidays but during the hustle and bustle of the season I didn’t get to check it out.

Lana Grant Musician and Writer Musicians and Morsels

Musicians and Morsels is a “half story- book, half cookbook” that chronicles favourite recipes from 41 East Coast Musicians while shining a light on Mental Health.   It is the brainchild of Lana Grant, a Newfoundland born, Nova Scotia raised singer-songwriter.

It is a really beautiful book, both in design and in writing.  When I first got it I read it from cover to cover.  It is comprised of short personal stories, and tales from the road, alongside the musician’s favourite recipe.  Last week,Chives whipped up a few of the appetizer recipes at the luncheon launch.

My favourite recipe so far are the Harmonious Hummus.  It has so much flavour and is easy to make.

But Chives also put together a great Guacamole:

The Chives luncheon was just one of a few events being held by Granite Records.  Lana will be touring restaurants around the province, and calling on musicians from each area she visits who are featured in the book to play.  Also keep your eyes out for a youtube channel coming soon with interviews and recipes.
