Minato Sushi – Halifax, NS

After ending a very long (and near the end, tumultuous) relationship with Hamachi, the search for a new sushi place has begun.

Last week, we stopped into Minato for a post-lunch pre-dinner snack. We didn’t order anything fancy, just a tuna roll, shrimp roll and avocado roll, all made spicy with their house spicy sauce. I was disappointed to learn that they didn’t serve gluten free soy sauce, but the spicy sauce soon made me forget about that. Also mentionable was the superb service we received from our waitress who not only served us quickly but with whom we exchanged some personal tales.

All in all, a great snack, although we would have liked to see a bit more variety on the menu.  A note to those with gluten allergies, while the spicy mayo was fine for me, it is wheat, quinoa and spelt that I cannot have. Some mayos are not gluten friendly so please do ask.
