Mr. Nomato and I have a Valentine’s Day tradition since our second or third year together. Since we have been in one stage of school or another since then, making reservations at fancy restaurants is usually out of our budget. And, let’s be honest, we both really have no desire to get all gussied up and pretend to be civilized people at some fancy place where they serve things like palate cleansers, and expect us to know what year of wine we want with our dinner.

Nope, instead we do our two favourite things: Watch awful movies and eat chocolate sundaes.

When you ask which awful movies, we mean all the awful movies, from “So Bad They’re Good” to “This is Horrible Oh God Why Make it Stop!” We’ve seen the 1981 Clash of the Titans, the Original Batman, Plan Nine from Outer Space, a weird subtitled French move that I think had a dragon in it? Battlefield Earth… you name a bad movie and it’s probably wandered past our list.

This year we’re tackling the Star Wars Holiday Special. You heard me. I cannot wait. Weird Wookiee Not-Christmas? I am IN!

And of course with our sundaes, we need to have delicious chocolate fudge sauce.

Thick. Dark. Rich… and the best part? So easy and quick! There are no down-sides to this chocolate sauce. (Other than the shame of being found by your loved ones in the middle of the night, illuminated by the fridge light with chocolate sauce all over your face, fingers and pyjamas.)

Seriously, the only reason it’s not ‘Two Minute Chocolate Sauce’ is because it’s being restrained by the laws of thermodynamics.

It is literally a five minute process.

Put dry stuff in a bowl. Mix.

Put wet stuff in a pot and turn on the heat to medium-high.

Add dry stuff to wet stuff, and whisk somewhat constantly until thick.

Oooooof….

Decorate with all the mushy valentines crap your heart can handle DELICIOUS THINGS!

Yummmmm.

My favourite is when it’s really really hot, and it just falls over the ice cream…

And it just melts everything until there’s a puddle of chocolatey, goopy goodness in a puddle on the bottom.

Dark…

rich…

velvety smooth.

These pictures are a lie though – two spoons? Only one mug of ice cream? Psht. That’s nonsense.

I’m not sharing this batch of chocolate fudge sauce with ANYONE.
