Midweek Mixdown: The Floodland Creation

The Floodland celebration this week is in full swing.  With Day 1 and Day 2 already in the bag, the end is near, however, we still have a few fun pieces to go. For this one, we decided to let Floodland tackle this week’s Midweek Mixdown.

It was so fun to let the band create this playlist. Other than each song being a jam, there is no specific reasoning for it. We asked what the band was listening to, and this gem of a playlist is what was produced. The YouTube selections are mostly live versions, but at the end of the post, we have the playlist all ready in a Spotify player.

David Bowie – “Heroes”

“This was my cat Topaz’s favourite Bowie song.”  – Eamonn

Ryan Adams – “Magnolia Mountain”

Such a sweeping alt country song this is.  – Luke’s Pick

Post Malone – “Leave”

“The lyrics are great; it’s such a haunting song and I really like that voice.” – Tori

Lou Reed – “Satellite of Love”

“The way it all builds into that insane Bowie vocal ending is so perfect.” – Aaron

Arctic Monkeys – “When The Sun Goes Down”

“It’s one of the many great songs from one of the best bands of the last twenty years. The song is effortless, scrappy, fun, with just the right amount of despair.” – Eamonn

The Zombies – “This Will Be Our Year”

Digging deep into the past on this one, The Zombies have crafted some brilliant pieces of pop music over the past 40+ years.  – Luke’s pick

Morrissey – “Why Don’t You Find Out For Yourself”

“Such a great song off a fantastic album. Pure Morrissey spite and annoyance.” – Aaron
