Young Jeezy, The Inspiration: Thug Motivation, Universal

Young Jeezy has dropped one of the most anticipated albums of 2006 with The Inspiration: Thug Motivation, another album depicting the urban hustler and the joys of slinging that rock.Notonce does the hip-hop prospect Young Jeezy apologize for his monikerof“Snowman” orhis street thug status. Thick imposing beats highlight Jeezy’s robust southern drawl and the impressive guest list Jeezy has managed to assemble. Fans of 50 Cent & G-Unit will feel right at home here as Jeezy’s shtick is so recycled and clichéd at this point that there’s not much that sets him apart from his contemporaries. Tracks such as “Go Getta” (featuring R. Kelly) and “I’m the Realest” band as hard as anything you’ve heard before, however Jeezy just doesn’t hold the weight of his contemporaries. While a solid sophomore effort that avoids the pitfalls of a follow-up, it also lacks the innovation that builds legends.
