Critics Picks 2013: DVDs in The Coast

The good people at Halifax’s alt.weekly The Coast asked me to assemble 10 recommendations from all the DVD I saw in 2013, and I’ve done just that. I made a point of choosing movies (and a TV series) otherwise unshown in regional cinemas (and on local TV). My point being there are plenty of great films that don’t make it into distribution locally because they’re hard to market, they’re from another country, or don’t star Vince Vaughan, Reese Witherspoon or that box office king, Tyler Perry.

Go here to read few of my thoughts about The Sweeney, Byzantium, Love Is All You Need, Black Mirror, and V/H/S 2 (and none about The Medusa Touch, Upstream Color, Drinking Buddies, Only God Forgives and The Hunt).
